Report 2 – Oversight of Federally Regulated Pipelines

The Officer of the Auditor General’s responsibility was to conduct an independent examination of federal oversight of pipeline operations to determine whether the National Energy Board:

  • Has verified that regulated companies are complying with pipeline approval conditions and other key regulatory requirements;
  • Was prepared to fulfill its role as lead federal regulatory agency in pipeline emergency response; and
  • Has determined whether it has the capacity necessary to fulfill its roles and responsibilities in the context of pipeline regulation.
