Pursuant to the National Energy Board’s (Board) obligations under the Canada Oil and Gas Operations Act and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, the Board finds that further information is required to complete the environmental review of the TGS/PGS/MKI NorthEastern Canada 2D Seismic Exploration Survey.

The Board requests that you provide your responses to this Information Request by 5 June 2012 to Kyle Sherwin, Team Leader of Conservation of Resources and to the individuals copied below. If there are any concerns regarding the requested response date please let us know as soon as possible.

3.1 Reference:
Letter of Comment to the NEB from the Qikitani Inuit Association (Q1A) dated 16 May 2012.

Request:
Please respond to the comments and recommendations provided in the letter from the QIA specifical

a) Please comment on the concerns expressed by the QIA regarding the timing of consultations.

b) Please describe how MKI will advertise their meetings.

c) Please indicate whether technical staff will be available at the community meetings to address questions regarding impacts to marine mammals.

d) Please comment on the recommendation for a multi-stage consultation process, including MKI’s response to concerns regarding how Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit will he verified by knowledge holders and how the information will be used in the design of the program.

e) Please confirm MKI’s plans for conducting follow-up community meetings for the purpose of communicating the results of the previous seasons program.

If applicable, please include in your response justification for why any of the recommendations made in QIA’s comments would not be implemented.
