Project Background

Trans Mountain Pipeline ULC has filed a project notification for the Sumas Terminal Efficiency Project (Project). The proposed project involves new manifold and associated piping and supporting infrastructure, new electrical building along with associated power connections, additional work to tie-in the new facilities to the existing terminal operations, and new power poles, with power connection provided by utility providers. The Project will be constructed within the fenceline of Trans Mountain’s Sumas Terminal which is located in Abbotsford, BC, with the exception of limited tree pruning immediately outside of the terminal fenceline for a new power line connection. It is intended to provide increased operational flexibility to allow incremental throughput to Trans Mountain’s Puget pipeline system.

Project construction is planned to commence on 17 May 2027, with an expected project-in-service date of 31 December 2028.
