Project Background

The Inuvialuit Energy Security Project (IESP) is located in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region in the Northwest Territories. The project as well as the land and resources where the project is located are Inuvialuit owned.

The IESP involves the construction of a gas plant that would convert natural gas into compressed natural gas and synthetic diesel that will be used for power and heating.

The IESP will be regulated by the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) under the Northwest Territories Oil and Gas Operations Act. The CER holds responsibility for regulatory oversight of oil and gas operations and activities in the onshore part of the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
